University Park takes its bearings from the University of Denver and from Chamberlin Observatory, the sandstone landmark completed in 1894. The Denver Astronomical Society has called it home since 1949.
The neighborhood has a college-town quality inside the city: older homes with deep front porches, tree-lined blocks and a park at the center of it.
The houses
Older homes share these streets with larger houses built on infill lots, and part of the area carries a City of Denver historic district designation. Nancy’s sales here have been at the larger end: 2571 South Columbine Street, built in 1998, closed at $1.78 million in 2022, and 2565 South Fillmore Street, built in 2001, on a block that dead-ends into Observatory Park and McWilliams Park.
Getting around
The University of Denver light rail station on Buchtel Boulevard connects the neighborhood to downtown and the Denver Tech Center. Observatory Park sits within the neighborhood, and the campus is a short walk for much of it.
